The winter session of
15th Lok Sabha

The winter session of 15th Lok Sabha ends on Friday with a positive speech by the Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. The day began with union minister Jairam Ramesh walking up to BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu, with a handwritten thank you note for helping
to pass the controversial bill creating Telangana as 29th state in the Rajya Sabha. The Lok Sabha was at its most peaceful when members assembled for farewell speeches. Shinde went out to compliment the opposition and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, who accepted it with a smile. Meanwhile, Shinde also mentioned Mulayam Singh Yadav in his speech and further said that the session was a historical one.

Shri Sushilkumar Shinde at Indo-bangladesh border


Shri SushilkumarShinde, Union Home Minister undertook a visit to Indo-Bangladesh Border adjoining state of Assam.  He started his visit from Dubri in Assam.  After taking the ceremonial Guard of Honour he was brief by senior officials of BSF about the current situation on Indo-Bangla Border.  India shares more than 4000 kms of Border with Bangladesh. 
He visited water wing of BSF and travelled in River Brahmaputra in a Boat for more than an hour and inspected riverine BOPs.  Thereafter he travelled for more than 15 kms. by road along with Border inspecting the fence, flood lighting and land BOPs OF BSF.  There he interacted with officers and jawans of BSF deployed in that sector.
He was accompanied by Home Secretary, Director, Border Management, Special DG, BSF and was received by senior officials of State Government and BSF.

Shri Sushilkumar Shinde under took visit of Jammu and Kashmir from 12th October, 2012 to 14th October, 2012. 

Union Home Minister, Shri Sushilkumar Shinde under took visit of Jammu and Kashmir from 12th October, 2012 to 14th October, 2012.  This was his second visit to Jammu and Kashmir with in a span of ten days as he visited Kargil and Leh on 6-7 October, 2012.  He started his visit from Jammu on 12th October, 2012.  At Jammu Airport he was received by Shri Nasir Aslam Wani, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Madhav Lal, Chief Secretary, J&K, Shri Ashok Prasad, DGP, J&K and other senior officials of Government of J&K and BSF, CRPF etc.  He visited Chanka-Da-Bagh in Poonch district near Pakistan Border.  The trade between India and Pakistan takes place from this point in Jammu region.  He met traders and others officials handling trade related issues at this place.  Thereafter he proceeded to Satowali, a post of BSF at Indo-Pak Border, here he inspected the fences at the border and other surveillance equipments and procedures.  He addressed officers and Jawans of BSF at Sanik Sammelan held at this post.  He visited Raghunath Temple and met delegations representing different sections of the society in Jammu region e.g.  Refuges from POK, Bar Association, Industry delegation, Gurjar community problems etc.  Thereafter he proceeded to Srinagar.

On arrival at Srinagar, Shri Shinde met Governor of J&K Shri N.N.Vohra and discussed the issues related to Jammu and Kashmir.  Governor hosted the dinner in honour of Shri Shinde which was attended by Chief Minister, Shri Omar Abdulla, Speaker of J&K Assembly and many other senior Ministers and officials.  On 13th Morning Mr. Shinde attended Unified HQ meeting and took review of security situations of J&K with Army Generals, Senior Police and Civilian Officials and Officials from BSF and CRPF.  He appreciated the synergy among the forces and efforts put in by everybody to bring normalcy in the state. He advised officials to continue the alertness of the forces and involve the people of the state for being the part of the peace process.  He took meeting of Senior Civil Servants of the States and officials of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India regarding developmental issues of the states.  He visited Dal Lake Conservation Project for which he went across the lake in the boat.  He visited Hazrat Bal Shrine and prayed for the peace in the state.  Thereafter he interacted with the school children at Delhi Public School, Srinagar. 
In the evening, in a surprise move, Shri Shinde visited Lal Chowk and other market areas of Srinagar and interacted with Shopkeepers and small scale tradersThe most noticeable part of this visit is that he travelled in a non-bullet proof car driven by Chief Minister himself.  There was no stoppage of any traffic and no restrictions were put up by security forces during this trip.  This was first such visit of any Home Minister in last two decade.  This visit received admiration from all sections of the society particularly common people of Jammu and Kashmir.
On 14th morning, He visited and offered his prayers at Chrar-e-Sharief.  He interacted with the people present at Chrar-e-Sharief gathered there to attend the annual URs.  People were thrilled to meet the Home Minister of Nation.  It was kind of a dream for them that they could shake hand with Home Minister of the Country.  He visited Pradesh Congress Committee office at Srinagar.  During his address he reminded people of the contribution and commitment of Congress Party in maintaining its stand for Communal Harmony, National Unity and Development of the Nation.
